dinner near Southpark Mall charlotte, NC
Will be staying near the southpark mall and looking for a spot to have a late-ish dinner upon arrival on a Friday night. American, continental type food not fancy but good wine and close proximity are pluses.
Lots of chains in that general area but Roosters Wood-Fired Kitchen is good local establishment with a good wine list and a nice atmosphere and bar. They have great vegetable sides, house-made pastas, steaks, fish, pork, etc. http://www.roosterskitchen.com/index.cfm
I know you said American, but Georges Brasserie is another reliably good restaurant in the Southpark area. Traditional brasserie fare, fresh oysters and a comfy bar area. http://www.georgesbrasserie.com/
Enjoy your visit!
I agree with the recommendations for Roosters. If you want something more low key, Wine Shop at Foxcroft serves some good food (mostly small plates) and has a great wine selection. There are some other good options in the area as well, but they may be a little fancier than what you're looking for.
A little bit further than Roosters (which is great btw) is Barringtons, which would also fit your bill. Issue might be getting in since it's only 20 tables or so. I would call ahead just in case.
