Quick bite before the Celtics game

I'm heading to the Garden Friday night for the Celtics game. Is there anything worth eating within a few blocks of North Station? I want to be able to walk there and back. Since I'm coming from work the meal can't take much longer than an hour (not a lot of time between the work and the game). Also going to be casually dressed so nothing I need to look nice for. Thanks

  1. The Tip Tap Room has eclectic appetizers and a lot of taps as can be expected.

It is maybe a 7 min. walk, at Cambridge and Staniford Streets.

We went to the Celtics game a little over a week ago, the first in some time. There are two beer gardens inside the TD Garden complex. Did not go on that occasion but might be something to check out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had seen it before but never been in. I might give that a try. Antelope meatloaf is calling me.

Ducali does have some pretty nice pizza.

      2. Haven't been yet, but my plan for my next visit to the Garden is to hit Ward Eight, in the old Nebo space. Second the Ducali rec. A couple more minutes away is the Waterfront Cafe, also with some decent pizza.

I have only had drinks at Ward 8, which I thought they did well (also solid beers on tap for that area). The food looks and sounds good, but I have yet to try it. A friend who's opinion I trust on these matters had some apps before a B's game recently and gave a favorable review. FWIW

Thanks Ward 8 is looking like a good possibility as well.

        2. So I just thought I would update. Didn't make it anywhere before the game (which was a disappointing loss to the Lakers) but stopped by Ward 8 after. Had a couple of drinks, interesting but not remarkable, and three small plates. The steak tacos with avocado were just ok. Nothing bad about them, just standard and I wouldn't get them again. The maple Chili duck wings were very good. The sauce was thick and sweet and made your fingers a mess if you ate them with your hands like me. The meat was tender and flavorful and del off the bone. I would get them again. The best thing on the menu was the cheesesteak fried ravioli. It recently replaced the lamb meatballs which are still listed on the website but are no longer available. You get four large ravioli, breaded and fried with a red pepper sauce and watercress. The filling is superb and I like the balance of meat and cheese. They were so good I got a second order of them. My biggest complaint would be how loud it was. We were literally shouting talk, but other than that it was great.

Thanks for the recommendation. Hope you get to try Ward 8 soon.
