Lunch downtown

Lotus7 Jan 12, 2014 08:23 PM

I'll be downtown , going to violet crown (2nd st) and am eager to try a great restaurant or food truck-anything *new down there worth checking out? Love all cuisines-just looking for a new place serving exciting, great food. Look forward to your suggestions!!

Would Goodall's be worth going to??

It used to be Mansion at Judge's Hill. They have recently remodeled the entire hotel and expanded the restaurant.
The food is decent but it's more of a romantic type setting unless you sit in the bar. But the bar area is not very "happening".
It's more sit in 1 of the 2 leather chairs and sip on cognac.

Driskill bar would be more exciting for a HH.

      Close lunch choices might be
      Second Bar & Kitchen
      Lambert's- BBQ
Taverna is really good and a very popular brunch spot on Sundays.

Appreciate the info!! It'll be a lunch date w my husband so don't mind romantic. But I now realize Gooodalls is not walking distance from Violet Crown. I've been to all the restos you've mentioned and enjoy them but was hoping to check out something new-even if it's a food trailer, casual or a bit upscale. Thanks

Maybe Searsucker. It's pretty new. I haven't been there.

Open for lunch or brunch except on saturday.

If you don't need anything fancy or need a salad, hit up Gus's fried chicken. Marinated in pickled jalapeno juice apparently. It's pretty damn good. The coconut chess pie (or whatever it is) is also worth the calories. Fried green tomatoes are pretty good too.
