Is Berkeley Bowl coming to SF???

mr_morcilla Jan 11, 2014 08:04 PM

I've heard from a couple foodish friends that they heard that Berkeley Bowl was sniffing around for a SF location.
Man, I'd give my left rognon for a BB on this side of the bay.

Does anyone know anything about this?

    I sure hope that's true.

Wish they would open in Jack London Square as Oakland Bowl

I'm sure they have thought of this before. The main problem is likely rent which is probably 4 times that in Berkeley.

If you don't mind paying $10/pound for tomatoes it can possibly work.

Not to worry. Ed Lee can probably cut them a good deal in the Twitterloin.

I would so love a Berkeley Bowl or Monterey Market in SF.

This subject is so ripe for SF/Berkeley comparison jokes, and I am surprise that none have appeared (yet) on this thread.

With all the techies taking over, everyone in San Francisco who would have shopped at "the Bowl" has moved to the East Bay already. ;-)

I'd be so happy to have a Bowl and Monterey Mkt in SF .. hate to fight traffic there and back.

I heard from a very reliable source that the deal for a San Francisco store is almost complete. However, I am very sad to say that the deal they had for a Pleasant Hill store fell apart!

My source told me that the West Store paid off in 2 years, obviously money is not an issue for them.

Please give a clue as to the location...
