HELP Dallas recommendations needed!

I will be in downtown Dallas for 3 days and will NOT have a car. Although I have been to Europe over 100 times, this will be my first to Dallas and would like to try Tex Mex or something Texan (not a steakhouse) even tho I do not eat meat.

I am looking for suggestions of restaurants whose chefs use high quality fresh local ingredients somewhat creatively and preferably with some authentic local character.

Any help will be appreciated!

Trust Twin. He is always spot on, and doesn't miss a trick.

          Downtown Dallas:
Stephan Pyles Restaurant or his sister restaurant, Stampede 66. Both Texas themed but Stampede 66 more so.

          Mexican and Tex-Mex downtown:
          Meso Maya. Mexican with Tex-Mex.

          El Fenix. Strictly Tex-Mex.
