Since I started the 2013 Best earlier last year. I figured I'd start the 2014 even earlier. Let's keep it going.

Pig and Khao: Crispy Pata
Terroir: Veal Meatball Sandwich

I like the sound of that scallop dish and Ive never been to Moti Manal, so, i'm glad you posted.
Doesn't matter if it's only ten days in, this way we can all get ideas of where to go in the future. Thanks again.

I've dined out only twice this year (so far), but the following dishes were outstanding:

Atera: Matsutaki mushroom consommé with pine nut miso and foie gras; aged wagyu beef with shaved white truffle

        Heidelberg: potato latkes (not kidding).

Both dishes sound great. Ive never been to Atera, Also, I love potato latkes. I made some Trader Joe's latkes the other day and they were decent, but I'm sure Heidelberg's were much better. Thanks for New places for me to try.
Today : Viet Cafe's vegetarian crabcakes, really crispy and delicious.

Agreed on the aged wagyu beef with truffles, we had it a few days ago and we adored. It was my second time there and definitely want to go again. Here is a picture of the dish, but I also have a video on instagram @foodemotion

Thanks for posting the photo; I had forgotten to take a photo until 1/4 way through the dish. Atera has become one of my favorite restaurants.

The foie dish at the NoMad was very good, different from every other foie gras terrine being served around town.

It's marinated in cognac, and then apple wood smoked. It was incredible, almost cheese-like.

That sounds like an interesting version of foie terrine. I recommend you try it at Paradou, they have 5 or 6 versions there.

Henry's End has been serving that dish since they opened many years ago. I've had the Elk Chops probably 15 years ago, and they were really good.

I've never been to the Lincoln. I haven't been to Boulud Sud either been to DBGB, not sure if that is similar.
What is lughetti con sanguinaccio? I like the name, so I want to try it.

My latest top dish was at-
Telepan Local : Nantucket Bay Scallops black trumpet puree & garlic

The lughetti is hand cut spaghetti with blood sausage and a bit of grape and parmigiano in the sauce. Very unusual but I thought it was delicious. Lincoln is one of my favorite restaurants in part because the chef introduces new dishes on a regular basis.

Boulud Sud has a Mediterranean emphasis so it's not really comparable to DBGB. Higher price point too.

Boulud Sud isn't quite as loud/energetic, the food feels more precious with elegant plating- more emphasis on wines than beers. And pricier. Great when its nice enough to sit outside

I almost tried that dish last night . I guess next time I will.
I did try the lobster roll ( cold not hot) just to compare to other places. I would say for the purists, you get a good portion of lobster meat. But the problem I had was it was lacking flavor. Although I do not like Pearl Oyster bar's lobster rolls because they are too runny with the "mayo or liquid" they have plenty of flavor. Cull and Pistol's were tasteless. Also, I didn't like that the pieces of lobster in the lobster roll were very big. Others might enjoy that , for me it was too much chewing.
The service was excellent, the oysters were excellent. So were the little necks.
