Peter Luger Dinner Upcoming-What, If Any, should I Avoid?

I haven't been to PL in many years. What apps or sides should we (6 of us) not order?

TIA

In my opinion, anything. PL is extremely overrated.

Just saw you posted your experiences in a separate thread.

Thanks all. I was planning on the bacon. Will alert the others not to order the shrimp. I was going with the German potates but will opt for the fried ones.

Looking forward to it. Will order a Manhattan for sure, maybe two.

Depending on the number at the table get a rib steak to compare. Love the bacon and it goes very well with tomato and onion and thats the only real use for the steak sauce. Get the strudel.

And if you like a real bartenders skilled drink, order a Manhattan. It just tastes better here.

Stick to the basic script: bacon (yes, the bacon!) appetizer, porterhouse for two (not for three, get 2 steaks for 2 if nec) and hot fudge sundae (if you have room). You are in for a treat.

Agree on the bacon. You can't not get the big bacon.

I disagree re: the hot fudge sundae. Get the strudel. It's great and if you can't finish it, bring it home.

My vote is for the chocolate mousse cake (it's actually a pie). Chocolatey and not too sweet, perfect with a side of schlag.

Well, now I'm going to have to go back and try that!

And sounds like I've got to try their strudel. The pics look so good!

It really tasted as if it was homemade. We were impressed. However, I am a chocolate fiend, so I will have to try the mousse cake now!

I'm a fan of the strudel too

When I looked around and saw all of the barely-eaten sundaes on nearly every table and our empty strudel plates, I felt like we made a good choice. The mousse cake sounds quite promising, though.

IMO the tomato and onion is a total waste of money. ditto on the cocktail shrimp. Not a fan of the german potatoes either.

                  Agree wholeheartedly.

The fries are a much better option at Luger.
