Simpsonville/Greenville overlooked place-Stella's Southern Bistro

  • 2

With the death of Devs in Greenville, I think this place is now my new favorite in the area. I just wished I lived closer. There is no pretentiousness in this place when you walk in it is like you are a regular. The Chef was the original one from High Cotton when it first opened. The bar is my favorite place to sit, it is small, and chat with the real regulars and eat what I think is a fantastic Butchers Plate. I live about 30 minutes away so I don't get to go as often as I like but I have actually planned business in the area just to have a lunch or drinks there. It has really become a popular place and I don't think enough people know about it. Here is this weeks lunch menu. This is the kind of Southern Food I really enjoy.

Stella’s Tomato Basil Soup 4 / 6
parmesan, croutons, crispy country ham
Mushroom Soup 5 / 7
fennel frond pesto, local goat feta

Wed Special- Creole Cornbread Stuffed Chicken 11
roasted butternut squash, scallions, country ham, Carolina Gold rice grits & herb jus
Grilled Cheese of the Day 12.25
pimiento cheese & country ham on grilled corncake
Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwich 10
brioche, mustard BBQ, slaw, salt & vinegar steak fries
Surf & Turf Hash 14
grilled strip, lobster cake, herb mousseline, duck fat potato, charred onion, brussel sprouts

Florida Key Lime Chiffon 7
vanilla rum roasted pineapple, chantilly cream

  1. Shhhhh....d'ont let the secret out. Yes, I wish we lived closer too. We went for the first time a couple of months ago and were extremely pleased. You are made to feel like a regular , and we received excellent service. The Butchers Plate is awesome. If you want to experience something that only a couple of restaurants in the G'vlle area have, go to Stella's NOW ! This place will be in your top two G'vlle dining destinations.

    1. I haven't tried it, it's way off my beaten path as well, but I just looked looked at their offerings for restaurant week, and it's impressive. Next time I make the trip out that way to IMAX, I'll plan to try Stella's. thanks for the heads up
