Orange County, CA Hound needs recommendations!

My wife and i will be traveling to Miami-South Beach at the end of June for our 1 year anniversary. We are both foodies and are looking for the best restaurants in the area we can dine at. We will be there for 4-5 nights. Price is not a factor or cuisine. I am allergic to lobster :(, so that's the only thing out.

TPigeon thanks a million, appreciate my friend!

    2. I'd recommend Joes Stonecrab, which to me, is iconic Miami Beach.
You can do dining room dinner, or much less formal, lunch in their "takeaway" section (you can eta lunch or dinner in both sections I believe).
-I don't know if your lobster allergy extends to stone crab...

Porker, I appreciate the req. Magically i can eat other shellfish, thank god

      2. On South Beach:
        The Dutch
        Joe's Stone Crab
        Pubbelly, Pubbelly Sushi, PB Steak

For lunches / casual spots, search other South Beach posts, TPigeon has provided a good list (several times)

            Take Frod's advice.....Frod and tpigeon know food....know the area.....and know what's good.....

            Ft. Pierce, FL....

        1. The Dutch
          The Bazaar
          Joe's stone crabs
          Restaurant Michael Schwartz
          Tongue & Cheek

Just north of the beach on Collins (Fontainbleau) I'd do Scarpetta, Hakkasan and Michael Mina 74.

and a 15 minute cab up Collins ave to Makoto or J&G Grill.

          1. I highly recommend Meat Market (steak) and Yardbird (Southern) on Lincoln.

Brand new restaurant opened up where dining meets fashion called Cavalli Lounge (Italian)--on Ocean Drive.

                1. I'm surprised so many are recommending Joes Stone Crab. It is overpriced and has relied on its 1950s reputation since then. If you want stone crab, go to Montys for happy hour.

I'm sorry Blue Herons but many recommend Joe's Stone Crabs because it's not only a South Florida landmark restaurant but also because of excellence.

While I love Monty's too, Joe's is an experience. It's a destination. The crabs there are excellent and while I've eaten Stone Crabs all over South Florida (including Monty's), for some odd reason they're just better at Joe's. I happen to believe it's the exacting temperature that they serve the crabs.

And then there's the 5-star service and ambience. There's a cool vibe there as many of South Florida's top movers and shakers always seem to be there. And then there's always the possibility of seeing a top celebrity.

Love Monty's! But Joe's Stone Crab is an institution and so many people recommend it because of its excellence of which nobody can deny.
