I ate at rogue island a few days after they opened, while the menu is written ridiculously (they point out that a sauce is a gel, or foam, or put it in quotes a lot), the cooking was good. Almost everything we had was well seasoned and delicious.

According to Rhode Island Monthly, Fratelli's, which was located in the Biltmore Garage, has also closed.

Gee that was quick. Didn't they just open?

              Justine’s lives!

Stopped by this speakeasy-style lounge Friday night for a cocktail. Loved the drinks (most are $5.00), the lively ambience, the gorgeous sconces, mirrored bar, vases of neon orange lilies.

Justine’s is easy to miss as the storefront window is almost devoid of light and there is no sign. It was only when I caught a glimpse of the lingerie-adorned mannequins in the darkened window that I knew I had found it.

Justine’s is an elegant and fun addition to Providence’s burgeoning bar scene. Great place for a late-night drink as it is opened to 1:00 am weeknights and to 2:00 am Fridays and Saturdays. Closed Sundays.

In Cranston, the Winter Farmers' Market has opened in the basement of the Edgewood Congregational Church on Broad St. in Edgewood, on Thursdays, 4:30 - 7:30 pm.

Available at the market are greens, winter vegetables, apples, cider, eggs, butter, cheese, locally produced meat products, locally caught fish, jams, honey, peanut butter, Bavarian pretzels, breads, and hot soup, generous cup or bowl, eat-in/take-out. Last week I enjoyed a hardy vegetarian vegetable soup at the market. There is a table complete with table cloth.

I particularly like the pretzels from the bakers of Foremost Bakery (They formerly baked at Seven Stars Bakery). The delicious soft Bavarian pretzels are made with a heavenly croissant dough. They sell out quickly but the baguettes and pastries are equally good. I first enjoyed the pretzels with a cocktail at a great little Providence bar,The Eddy, and was more than delighted to find them at the Cranston Winter Farmers' Market.

The Edgewood Congregational Church is located on Broad Street across from St. Paul's Church near the intersection of Broad Street/ Warwick Avenue/Norwood Avenue in the Edgewood section of Cranston. There is parking in the church parking lot and on-street.

The Cranston Winter Farmers' Market is at the church until mid-April when it returns to its warm weather location in the Shriners/Rhodes-on-the Pawtuxet parking lot off Broad Street in Pawtuxet Village.

I love being able to buy directly from the farmers and to show my support I try to do some of my weekly shopping at the farmers' market.

Cranston Winter Farmers' Market - Update

The correct hours are Thursday, 4:30 - 7:00 pm

There were fewer vendors than usual tonight but I got there early for the Bavarian pretzels (which were sold out before I left), lettuce, carrots, boar breakfast sausage and fresh local haddock. Fish chowder tomorrow night!

Adesso finally reopened in its new location on Charles Street in North Providence. Can't comment on the food, though. Never been.

Three Sisters on Hope Street on the East Side of Providence had been closed for renovations but their sign indicates they should be opening again this weekend.

I think Rogue Island in the Providence Arcade is set to open within a week or so. It's looked appealing when I've peeked in--looking forward to actually trying it.

Boru Noodle Bar has opened in Newport! It's a take on Changster's Noodle bar in NYC. Ramen lovers rejoice!

Just ate there this weekend. Fantastic. Had the pork belly buns (i'm a sucker for buns) and the chicken confit ramen. So much flavor in the broth and the noodles were perfection
