La Polenteria, Soho, London

A pretty good new casual place serving polenta and sandwiches.

Fairly smooth polenta, served piping hot, supporting the robust meaty and tomatoey flavours of a wild boar stew.

A lemon cupcake was moist and topped with a pleasant lemon cream.

Polenta dishes were about £9-11, sandwiches were about £7-8ish iirc. Desserts, such as the lemon cupcake, were mostly £3.50.

  1. The name is slightly better, but Ooze risotto bar comes to mind; can what is ostensibly a side dish sustain a restaurant?
