  1. Hail Merry Miracle Tarts at the Shoreline, WA store. They were delicious. They are gluten free and vegan. Dark chocolate ganache filling made with coconut oil instead of heavy cream. The crust is made with almond flour. I hope they keep these around.

Shows how tastes vary - I tried those during a demonstration and thought they were inedible.

      1. re: knowspicker

I'm so jealous- i love those!!! And they are crazy expensive at my whole foods....

        1. re: Ttrockwood

I love it also. They are so addicting. I am on my third package. I looked for them at WF and didn't find them. How much is it at WF?

          1. re: mrsjoujou

Late reply here! I have found them in the refridgerated area by the bakery in my store, they were sold near the coffee counter in a cooler at another store.
Have you had the hail merry macaroons? Those are just as divine......

      2. Was there yesterday, they were sampling dark chocolate covered dried mango, to my surprise, amazingly good.

        1. re: treb

Sometimes dried mango tastes soapy to me. I haven't seen these at our store, but I'd be interested to try some.

          1. re: roxlet

Yah, I find fresh mango very soapy tasting, the dried was nice and sweet with a good chew. That was a real surprise to me.

        2. I was there yesterday..didn't see any deals.
Have you tried the new pulled pork sandwich for $5 at the food court yet?

          1. re: Beach Chick

Where I live it's Beef Brisket (it looks like pulled pork); are you certain yours is pork? (The beef one I tried is pretty good.)

            1. re: walker

I like the brisket too. I try to remember to get the slaw on the side.

              1. re: walker

                LOL..
You can tell I don't eat meat and I just look at the pictures.

              2. re: Beach Chick

Pulled pork BC?...not pulled tofu! are you thinking of backsliding?

                1. re: treb

Pulled Tofu..yum..that sounds good but it has to have some char on it.

                  Backslide...wut?!

Don't think so homeboy..the cows wave at me when I go by knowing they are safe and have a friend..hee hee

              3. Saw the Healthy Choice frozen bars on coupon but, in addition to chocolate they had them in strawberry and pomegranate/blueberry flavors. Very good taste.

                1. re: treb

I'm headed there tonight for a few of their coupon deals. I usually stock up on the HC fudge bars when there's a coupon and I saw they're offering the yogurt bars as well. Are they also "no sugar added" like the fudge bars?

                  1. re: HeyImBack

I believe so, the yogurt bars are 90 cals each. Sugar per bar is 13G, very moderate.

                2. Kirkland Super Food Dark Chocolate covered Cherries, Cranberries and Blueberries..$8.99 for a big ol' bag.

                  Yum Yum Yum

                    Sounds excellent. What's your location?

                      Beautiful Sunny San Diego..
                      ; )

                      1. re: Beach Chick

go ahead rub it in, we're freezing! How big was that big ol' bag?

                        1. re: treb

                          LOL. .
80 degrees and ga ga gorgeous!

' How big was that big ol' bag?' You talking about me..hee hee

2lbs of Super Food Dark Chocolate Goodness.

                    2. re: Beach Chick

I tried that on a whim a couple months ago and had to eat the whole bag myself -- the chocolate coating was too much for my son. I got them for him because he loves those Brookside chocolate covered Acai and Pomegranate things, but this item has way more chocolate since the berries are pretty big, and the cherries are humongous.

                      1. re: Beach Chick

Those things are dangerous. The bag is just huge, and they are soooo good.

                      2. I've been buying this for a few months now. First Colony Organic coffee. So much better than the Starbucks stuff they sell.

                        1. OMG. .
                          Coconut covered cashews.

                            What location please?

                            1. re: Beach Chick

I thought these were good, too! Sadly, my (now former) housemate apparently agreed on that - she ate the whole container by herself (not that it was offered to her). Now my local Costco is out of stock!

                              1. re: JulesNoctambule

TJ's has coconut cashews as well- not sure how they compare but i love the ones from TJs

                              2. re: Beach Chick

Those are too good! I sampled some and decided to pass since I would have eaten the whole bag in very short order.

                                1. re: Beach Chick

Does anyone know how these compare to the TJ's version? I've been looking for them at Costco every time I'm there and haven't seen them. I just called my local store and the guy I spoke to says they've been deleted out of their system.

                                  1. re: gmm

They had them at my Texas Costco yesterday.

They're back! Picked up two at my Gig Harbor, WA store today! Unfortunately my daughter is coming over Sunday so I guess that I'll have to share.

                                      1. re: freddh

Unless you eat then real fast and finish them today!

                                2. Jarred artichoke hearts in water. Adore them.

                                  1. Galvanino's Blood Orange Soda (Union N.J.). We are not a soda drinking family but after a sampling, our 19 yr old home from college asked if we could buy it. It is wonderful.

                                    1. Was there yesterday, didn't see anything new in fact it looked like they were really understocked.

Was there yesterday as well, they had organic walnuts. Never seen them till today. Also, saw lots of asterisks on items.

                                        1. re: treb

                                          That means close outs?

                                          1. re: Leepa

I had the same question. We won't have a TJ here in Jacksonville until the end of 2014. I'm just preparing ;)

                                            1. re: Leepa

If there is an asterisk on the top right of the price label, when the flat is almost gone, it will be replaced with a flat of a different item. (Usually those prices are also $X.97)

                                              1. re: Leepa

It means that they will exhaust the inventory of that item and 'potentially' you may see a close out price that usually ends in .97, it can be as much as 50% off.

                                            2. re: rasputina

Saw tons of "New Year Resolution" items. In addition to exercise equipment, clothing and of shoes specific to various activities, flats of various powdered and canned meal replacements most vitamin and supplements had auto coupons.

Saw Lean Cuisine in new flavors and packaging (didn't realize what it was until I walked up to it). There were a wide variety of fruits and greens in the walk in refrigerator (three types of shredded kale in one package, a few items labeled 'for juicing')(and a live Vita Mix demo going on just outside the walk in fridge). There seemed to be more gluten free bread and sweet options, more whole grain cereals and some unusual cracker choices that I had not seen before the holidays.

                                              1. re: Cathy

Have you tried the Mary's Gone Crackers? They are delicious and happen to be gluten free. They are a bit pricey but are in the coupon book right now for $2 off.

                                                1. re: walker

Even with the coupon, I still think they're pricey.

                                                  1. re: walker

They were doing a sample. Very good.

I am diabetic, really have to watch my carb intake (100 per day max, meaning 20 per meal/snack) and unfortunately GF does not mean low carb. :[

                                                    1. re: Cathy

Well, how do these crackers stack up carb wise?

                                                      1. re: walker

It wasn't horrible. I calculated I could have 11 Mary's Gone Crackers for my 20 carbs (less than stated serving size of 13 crackers @ 22 carbs), vs. 15 Crunchmaster crackers (20 carbs and 15 crackers is one serving)which are also gluten free.

The Mary's Gone were in 6.5 oz bags, vs 9 oz bags for Crunchmaster. The price was more for the Mary's. Being able to eat less and those less costing more was my factor to not purchase.

                                                        1. re: Cathy

I've never heard of crunchmaster; are they at Costco?

                                                          1. re: walker

They've had them for a few years. Only the original flavor though. http://www.crunchmaster.com/products/...

                                                            1. re: walker

They are delicious brown rice crackers. They have a serious crunch factor. Once you have them you'll be hooked.

                                                              1. re: walker

BJs has some Crunchmaster items too. I always found that name somewhat ridiculous, like something MAD magazine would come up with. But their products are good.

                                                        2. re: walker

They are the best crackers! Love the onion flavor. hope they have them.

                                                          1. re: walker

Where do you get coupon books? When we signed up for membership a few months ago at the Costco in New Hampshire, they told us they "don't have coupons like BJ's". Are these mailed like BJ's does?

                                                            1. re: Tante

They mail them to you monthly, but in most cases you now don't really even need to have the coupons with you. They also now have an app for your phone which gives you the discount automatically if you show it to the cashier.

                                                              1. re: acgold7

What's the name of the app? I see several, not sure which one to d/l.

ETA: Ahh.. I was looking for it as an iPad app. I think I see it as a phone app. Thanks.

                                                                1. re: acgold7

In N. Calif we no longer need the coupon book and we don't have to show any app on a phone. (I bring the coupon book with me so I know what's on sale and the time period for the sale.) Yes, it comes in the mail.

                                                                  1. re: walker

                                                                    1. re: Tante

In the latest book there are a few items that note you must have either the book or the app to get the discount. But mostly you need neither. Still, it can't hurt to have the app on your phone, I suppose. There isn't a piece of personal info they don't already have about you.

                                                                2. re: Tante

                                                                  1. re: rasputina

This changed less than 6 months ago.

                                                                  2. re: Tante

                                                                3. re: Cathy

                                                                  1. re: KansasKate

Well, I just saw jars of salted chocolate covered caramels. looked very tempting.

                                                              2. Oh I forgot I did see something new at my Costco this week. Honey Nut Chex. My daughter wanted them so we got some. I like that they aren't too sweet.

                                                                1. Last week they had a mix of wild mushrooms with asparagus in the frozen section. They are imported from Italy and were strangely tempting, mostly for the mix of mushrooms. I couldn't pull the trigger though.

I was sold on the nutritional info (only 25 cals per 0.5 cup, 5 carbs+1sugar+2 protein) and loved it on an omelette. The convenience of having fancy mushrooms in the freezer without having to worry about the fresh version going stale before it can be used is great.

Will be using it in a shrimp stir fry this week too.

Perfect for our new morning shake addiction without breaking the bank. I generally refuse to buy out of season fruit, but these berries (from chile and Mexico, respectively) are helping us with our weight-loss regime. They have been sweet and last the whole week in the fridge, no mold issues.

Nice idea but I found the mushrooms were just too slimy slippery from being frozen. I believe I mixed them into cooked pasta to salvage something. Wouldnt buy them again.

I eyed them at Montgomeryville tonight but went with the shepard's pie in the ready to cook refrigerated section instead. Glad I did. Have not had the shepard's pie yet this season and was kinda hoping for the meatloaf and mashed offered last year but I tend to play with the pie anyway. For example I got some mushrooms to add to it.

I had it about two weeks ago after a sledding trip that went later than expected. Tired and hungry, we figured what the heck (the 2.50 off, and ability to microwave had something to do with it, also.) This was grade school cafeteria food. Live and learn. Also, "Chicken Taj Mahal" -don't do it. Lemony and flowery to the point of bathroom cleaner, imo. I'm starting to think that most of the pre-packaged stuff isn't really all that great compared to the house made refrigerated stuff. I'm fighting the urge to try that red curry chicken stuff too. All I need to do is think of the Chicken Taj Mahal tho, and I can put any package right back down. I should have used the return policy on that stuff. It was just wrong.

I am pregnant and on a restricted diet and these are pretty good because they are high in protein. Grilled chicken breast patty on a sesame bun. Not a huge sandwich but great for 280 cals.

I dont like the idea of buying grilled chicken because the texture of frozen grilled chicken can be dry adn stringy, but the samples prepared in a microwave by the sample lady were moist on the inside.
Disclaimer: the product wasnt a true chicken breast piece, instead a "patty". But for under a dollar per sandwich, this will do just fine. A little bland without condiments. I added a thin slice of red onion, a slice of tomato and a generous amount of sriracha. YUMMMM !

Jeez.... my local Costco (Nashua, NH) is like a convenience store/bodega compared to the triffic-sounding items I read about other locations offering. I read these threads, put them on my shopping list, and almost never does Nashua carry them, or anything else that doesn't have major mainstream appeal. Or if they do, it is quickly discontinued, like, a few years ago, blocks of paneer and an Indian sauce (tikka masala maybe - I can't remember other than that it was good). The area is home to a variety of ethnicities. Whenever I am there, I hear many languages being spoken by shoppers. The regular supermarkets have well-stocked ethnic aisles, produce, and animal parts. But not Costco. I am envious!

They also do pretty good with cheese selections. In Danvers, they don't stock Kirkland Whole Bean Decaf, that's why I go to Nashua. So, be envious about super markets and pay their astronomical prices, Ola!

And I'm always there on the weekend, when it's a madhouse with tons of people who leave their carts in the middle of the aisles while they walk away to peruse, are blocking the aisles with their carts while they talk to their partners, etc. I can only most closely equate it to a Walmart experience right before Christmas. I love the deals and the samples, but by the time we check out, I'm completely worn out and just want to get.away. from all the people! I don't remember my BJ's trips being like this, but that being said, I like Costco's offerings better.

                                                                                              2. Possibly extremely regional, but in Woodinville (Seattle Area) as of yesterday they have a small shipment of Opal apples -- an intensely flavored, very crunchy cross of a Golden Delicious x Topaz. Until now, at least around here, they've been exclusive to one small local supermarket chain, but this year they've been available at several, but fairly expensive. About $1.63/lb. at Costco but usually around $2.49 for conventional ($1.69-1.99 on sale) or $2.99 for Organic.

Closest apple I can compare them to would be a Crispin/Mutsu (most commonly found on the East Coast, now starting to appear under various other names like the Green Dragon or Sweet Emerald as well, and which is a cross of the Golden Delicious x Indo) but firmer, sweeter and with a more intense apple flavor with pear overtones and a tarter backbite.

Really worth a try if you see them. I only saw one pallet of them and I bought two clamshells as they tend to be in short supply and keep very well if you store them in the fridge between 33F and 40F.

                                                                                                1. I got some organic freekeh today... haven't tried it yet. Store in Hazlet, NJ.

They had the sea salt and the roasted garlic so I got the latter. Really delicious but on sale they were $2.99 for small amt, 4.5 oz. Guess Costco is a better deal but they don't have flavors.

                                                                                                    1. Never, never go to CostCo when you have a bad cold and are feeling somewhat bemused: you end up buying all sorts of weird stuff. Today's trip yielded chickens (they have the cheapest price around here if you don't mind dissecting the birds yourself), which were actually on the list. Plus marinated peppers, a bag of small peppers, marinated jarred artichokes, a package of Spanish-y sliced meats, a smoked salmon assortment, artichoke/jalapeno dip, a collapsible handtruck, a t-shirt that will amuse my mother, and one extremely ugly bathing suit.

No good cookbooks this trip, and while I like their pesto it only comes in too large a size for my household. I haven't seen their seafood road show people for awhile (not that I go all that often), and it's not the right season for a sack of limes. And there's no way we'll be able to use a sack of 4 pomelos, although they did smell nice.

And can be used to move CostCo quantities of stuff around you can stack six cases of ramen on it!

Buy the biggest and most powerful one you can.

But most of my jobs will be small and I was thinking of using it in my basement to clean the concrete floors so I would not want gas for that.

I've used several versions of both kinds and for my money, nothing beats gas-powered. You simply can't get enough pressure on the electrics to deal with certain types of discoloration on stone/concrete.

Suggested serving = 8 ounce , which is a quarter of a bottle is 70 cals. Pretty good as a snack. $6.89 for three 32 oz bottles. I'm getting some more this weekend.

Unfortunately, they seem to have replaced all of the Amylu chicken sausages/burgers that my husband adores. Bummer. I hope the Gertlers are good!

The sausages have already been marked down to $9.97 from $13.99 at the Port Chester, NY Costco --- some of the freeze-by dates are due in a couple of weeks.

Hope they become a regular too.

The cheese ones were gone though. I also scored some Irish Bangers. Gonna try the bangers and if they are as good as usual I'm tempted to buy a few more paks for my freezer.
Anyone try the Hawaiian chicken in the refrigerated prepared food section? I forget the brand but the chicken was char grilled and had pineapples. Very appealing but I succumbed again to the shepherd's pie with the three dollar off deal. Good thing I wasn't in the market for a rotisserie chicken. They were sold out which often happens on sunday.

Even the dog turned his nose up at them. Hope they've switched brands (I don't remember what we bought).

I bought some because I liked the bangers last year (I don't recall excessive filler -- a noticeable percentage of filler is what I'd expect).

I'm in serious need of some good Gruyere to top my French onion soup tonight. Has anyone purchased it at Costco recently? I'd rather not pay the $19.99/lb. for the gruyere reserve at Whole Foods if I don't have to, but will do so if necessary. I'm in the Boston area, if that helps. Thanks!

The soup was a hit and the cheese was nutty and gooey, so it all worked out. I'll look for the cave-aged when I'm shopping in the future.

Does anyone know if Costco still carries Vita Coca coconut water? I bought some last year and it's been in my pantry ever since. I've just begun using it in smoothies and would like to get more. Costco is an hour's drive away so I'd love to know if, generally, they still have it. Thx!

And since it just gets thrown in the oven I have the energy to make mushroom gravy and a veggie dish. Well some nights. He he!

I've only tried the chocolate, and it was good, but quite honestly, I think I'd prefer them with just the drizzle of chocolate on the top. The thick layer of chocolate on the bottom kind of overpowered everything else for me.

Got a 3-pack of Del Monte MAG melons and they were very good. Apparently they're an extra sweet variety of cantaloupe. I don't normally buy cantaloupes this time of year because they're usually hard and tasteless, but these were sweet and ripe.

Very sweet and aromatic, firm texture. No weird off-flavors (ie. acetone). By the time I get around to eating the 3rd one, I imagine it will be a bit softer.

They look so good but, I know it's not in season so I skip them and hope for time to speed up so I can get to summer and enjoy some sweet melons. BTW - last summer Costco had a great selection for melons and berries.

This week, the raspberries were just outstanding, and the blueberries were very flavorful. The raspberries used to be Driscoll, which are serviceable at best, but this week they were packed by Alpine. So good, large and not mushy at all.

Oh, well...the Nina tomatoes are terrific and an amazing deal at less than $4 for a #10 can. It's just that the can is so big I have to freeze half of it or more and my freezer is overly full as it is. Time to get creative with the frozen leftovers and make some room for the tomatoes since they freeze beautifully.

They still have Pepsi, so it can't be a problem with Pepsico...

Then when they have a sample I think it might be a really good idea to buy it. Must resist pork candy.

I bought these for my toddler's lunch box. I've divided the box into 6-8 cubes and every few days I put a cube in his lunch box, with some chopped up frozen veggies like cauliflower, peas, carrots etc. Warmed just 30-40 secs in the microwave it melts beautifully and is cheesy and delicious. Cheese is mild and pasta holds up it's shape and texture without getting too soft.

Costco ran a special in Nov/Dec when these were $9.99, now $12.99.

Sounds great, and a nice quick meal for my vegetarian son. Thanks.

Once within a large organic selection near the front of the store in the bin style refrigeration, and again near the rear of the store with the other refrigerated prepared goods.

It is kept near the fresh pastas and the kirkland pesto in my nor cal stores. I'm sad my closest costco in Livermore has discontinued this (probably seasobasl due to the squash component) but the costco in fremont,ca still carries it.

I'm headed to Costco in the next couple of days and will check that section and pick it up if they have it. I'm outside of Boston so it will be interesting to see if they do carry it across the country!

I did pick up some organic spinach and cheese lasagna from Pasta Prima to stick in the fridge for a night when I don't have time to cook. If my son leaves me a taste, I'll report back.

I would buy it again for a quick meal. Some might find it a little salty, but we all like salt so it worked for us.

It was a little watery right out of the oven, but after a few minutes it was just right.

Just cooked some up and put EVOO and grated parm on it. Nice snack or side dish.

Not sure I would call them a replacement.

I have used bella sundried and now bought this also. Never opened it. But want to check if i will use this big bottle...

I also didn't think the flavor was as good as homemade oven roasted. They would probably work better than the sun dried in some dishes though I don't think the oven roasted are a substitute for the sun dried.

Lovely and tender (like a lobster should bloody taste!)

Fortunately in New England, there is no need to buy frozen lobster.

Not a good mac and cheese. They did a good job with their Mac and cheese with butternut squash - better balance of flavors and cheese, and I was buying this faithfully every week, but of course costco has decided to discontinue it.

Thanks to whoever recommended Kirkland's frozen fish sticks. They are pollock, but actual slices of fillet, not piscine particle board. They bake up crisp and tasty.

They changed brands on the refrigerated crab dip, which USED to be something like Sun Coast, which also came in shrimp and lobster versions. Now it's a different brand, and only crab, but the crab tastes old. Won't buy it again.

At least they went back to select-a-size on the Kirkland paper towels, although they are flimsier than they used to be.

The breading itself has some seasoning and the flavor of the fish is good. I generally prefer larger pieces of battered fish, but if you like your fish in stick form, these are worlds better than the kind I remember from my childhood.

I soaked just a few hours and tasted a bit (raw; not the fry test. I wouldn't confess that if I had gotten sick). I used Ruhlman's pastrami rub recipe and held for three days, then smoked about 8 hours, or until about 160. Haven't steamed it. Would that make it any less salty?

They also used to sell some decent U.S. frozen pizzas. Another bad decision by some fool with a CPA or MBA after his/her name. Probably the same fool who turned Costco pesto from a wonderful sauce, albeit one with a short life after you open the jar, into a totally mediocre sauce with very little basil in it but lots of salt and the ability to stay "fresh" for months in the fridge after opening. Attn Costco frozen food honcho: You need to do a purge. You have some BAD people in there.

It was the worst aged cheddar cheese we have ever had. It was really bitter and ruined our Herbs de Provence ham sandwiches. I tried to contact the company but they didn't have any customer service phone number listed. I can't wait to tale it back.

I'd expect it to be really, really sharp. Do you have a lot of experience with cheeses that are 5 years old or more? Most really sharp commercial cheds we've had are around 2 or 3 years.

Not saying you shouldn't get your money back, of course. Just wondering if it wasn't a perfectly properly made cheese but just not to your personal taste. Which is a perfectly legitimate complaint, but shouldn't be construed as the cheese being a bad product.

Obviously I'll defer to your judgment. I haven't tried the product and we can't get it here, but I've had other cheeses from Sonoma Creamery when we've visited the area and always found them to be top-notch.

I have been buying aged Cheddar from Hook's for a while now. Love their 5 year Swiss (the best), 5 year Cheddar, 8 year Cheddar that I am planning to eat for lunch and 10 year Cheddar that is great. They are all sharp and crumbly, but never bitter like this Cheddar. The only problem with ordering from Hook's you have to buy 5 pounds and pay $50-$60 for shipping.

I don't remember seeing this mentioned, but I found a 3 pack of Maya Kaimal Indian sauces in the fridge for $11.99 (I think). The individual smaller tubs of this are about 6 bucks at Whole Foods. We had the coconut curry sauce last night with cauliflower and chickpeas, very tasty. There is also a tikka masala and a vindaloo in the pack

A fresher taste than the jarred sauces and of course I've got to throw in some cream or yogurt to kick it up a bit. I know I haven't had the vindaloo so can't say if it's ungodly hot.

I make little meatballs with ground turkey, cilantro and green onion, and drop them right in the vindaloo sauce to cook. I have been looking for the sauces in our Costco (Yonkers, NY), but have been unsuccessful in finding them there. We usually get them at Fairway or WF.

I love the HC ones.

Julie's has more fruit flavor, are creamier and smoother in texture. Give'em a shot.

This time around I was going to stock up on the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches but I'll definitely look for those other frozen yogurt bars too.

We go through a LOT of matzo in my house and have already gone through half a box (made fried matzo for dinner tonight!).

Will go well with that bagel and lox nosh! If you want to go hog wild, I could recommend a 1988 Pomery 'Louise' if you can find it and are willing to pony up a few Bengies for a bottle.

Costco switches brands around all the time. This year's bottler could be anybody. Treb is probably right if his info is recent.

I can't remember the brand but it's honey smoked and extremely reasonably priced. Flakes apart with a fork in nice meaty chunks, and it's not too salty!

I'm almost positive I've gotten it there before. Hackensack is way too crowded and gives me anxiety-- the only reason I'd go there is for the liquor!

No good? I read that their smoked salmon is made by Acme Smoked Fish Corp in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Pretty famous.

More for the nostalgia factor than anything, yesterday I picked up a bag of dried organic calimyrna figs. I always liked dried figs as a kid. Never liked the dried dates, way too sweet for me.

We found vacuum-sealed packages of Costco rotisserie chicken breast meat in the refrigerated case with the deli meats. $12 or so for a 40-oz package. Huge chunks of white meat, like what you'd find in their soup, with no labor involved! It seemed like way more meat than what you'd get from 2 chickens, so it was a good bargain for us. And it tasted just like their fresh rotisserie chickens. I hope they keep this item in stock!

Easy to look at the quality of them. As always, just go to the customer service counter and they'll gladly refund, no need to bring back the produce to them. Sure they were Meyer's?

One person would be very annoyed about returns but others totally don't mind.

Normally, I just give them my card.

I'd say what you experienced is not normal for Meyers, but that your lemons sound like they had already been off the tree for quite a while and/or not stored properly before you bought them.
