Wheat berries in Edmonton

Does anyone know a good place to buy wheat berries for grinding your own flour in Edmonton? The only place I've found them so far is Planet Organic in the bulk section but they're a little pricey and I don't need organic.

  1. Just because I was curious ...

What is the price of wheat berries in Planet Organic?

I found this site by Googling 'wheat farm edmonton'
    $6/kg / $18 for 5kg / $50 for 22.7kg (50 lb

They are in a number of locations in Edmonton.

Thanks, I had actually looked at that web page as well but somehow I missed seeing the wheat berries on it the first time.

      Planet Organic is $5/kg.

    2. This is an older post, but I'll comment anyway. The biggest factor with buying wheat berries is finding out what the protein level is. If you don't know the protein, there's a good chance it won't be high enough to bake bread with. We only sell wheat that is high enough in protein to bake bread. And, we sell the same wheat to high end bakeries like Bon Ton Bakery and Dauphine in yeg. Buying in bulk in the larger bags means you are getting wheat for $2.20/kg.

And with dessication in standard grain production, I have no idea why anyone would think they don't need organic but that's your call. I'd encourage you to do your own research on the effects of consuming Round Up with your wheat, perhaps you'll come to a different conclusion than I did.
