Angelina's Pizzeria - Authentic Neapolitan pizza in Dana Point

My husband and I have been disappointed with our Orange County neapolitan-style pizza options (Ortica, NB-Mozza, and Pitfire all disappointed us on our last few visits) so we decided to try something new.
My husband had the Diavola that featured chili oil and spicy sausage, and I had the DOC Margherita. We're happy to report Angelina's is by far the best we've had in the area. The crust had great flavor and a perfect amount of char.
The owner, who is from Naples, was very friendly and seemed to take pride in creating an authentic and tasty pizza. Wait service was attentive, and the pizzas came quickly to the table.
If you can get over the cheesy (no pun intended) art on the wall, I think you'll have a great meal.

  1. There are 2 certified Neapolitan pizzerias in OC, Pizza e Vino in Rancho Santa Margarita and Fuoco in Fullerton.

Don't forget Il Dolce Pizzeria in Costa Mesa, which is also VPN certified. I have had some good pizzas in the past but now find it to be a bit inconsistent.

I believe that you're mistaken regarding their certification as I don't see VPN certification on their own website nor the VPN website for them.

I do note that the OC Weekly said that the chef had earned a certificate from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in this linked article.

Thanks Serv. I do also recall seeing the cert on the wall at Il Dolce as does the OP in this thread:

It may be possible that the certification has not been renewed for lack of dues or other reasons. The place has been pretty empty last few romes I was there.

On an another note, has anyone tried the pizza place opened by former Playground alum in Laguna Beach? I believe the name is NEApoliton

    2. Where is Angelina's? Is it new?

I love Milo & Olive's pizza. Settebello (Pasadena/MDR) is good authentic Neapolitan but silly atmo. Stella Rosa in Santa Monica same.

It is in North Dana Point, right near Salt Creek Grille. Not the best location...

        2. Ooh. Since moving to South OC last year much of the food has been a disappointment. This is great info... can't wait to try it out.
