Elements in Chapel Hill, NC

This restaurant's been open for over a year, but I just heard about this today from a Vietnamese friend who said the Vietnamese food there is outstanding. Not too surprising since the chef is Michael Chuong, a Vietnamese native and former chef at An in Cary.

Have any chowhounders been here yet?

    1. I went with a couple of fellow local CHers when it first opened. I don't think any of us were overwhelmed by it, but it was fine. I think it is telling that I haven't been back even though fairly close to my house.

      1. I have been 3 or 4 times over the last year, and have always had stellar food. Many times, I do a couple of the appetizers and some sushi (which he does very well) and have always enjoyed the offerings. I did have a soft shell crab there in the late spring that was done with an Asian "remoulade" that was quite possibly the best local rendition of soft shells I have had.

        1. Just happened to look at Element's menu and noticed that it seems much more Vietnamese than it did when the place first opened. This seems like very good news to me. Has anyone been recently?

              I think this is definitely a better way for them to be going. Makes me want to go again.

              I've never been but after looking at the menu, it's going to the top of my list.
