Salt Pork in the GTA

Hey Hounds.

There was another thread from 5 years ago so I decided I'd create a new one. I'm, as the title suggests, looking for salt pork. Not the cured belly kind but the pure white stuff known also as "White bacon" or "Fatback."

It's becoming much more difficult to find. Even my mom had to use the cured belly for cabbage rolls this Christmas and they never used to have any trouble finding it.

Thanks in advance.

  1. I've gotten fat back at jerry's before. Most places that make their own sausages have it, but not on display. Don't think it was cured, but that's a fairly easy fix at home! Just brine it for a day or two.

    1. think ive seen some at yummy market, where they keep the assorted packs of ends of deli meats

      1. The addition of bits of salt pork to the cabbage rolls filling truly makes exceptional tasting indeed!!!! Similarly the addition of sour cream to home made perogy dough makes a great product.

        1. I have purchased it at Highland Farms before.

          1. Did you end up finding any? I'm looking like crazy!!!!
