Cork Market Quiche

Steve Dec 28, 2013 09:13 PM

The Cork Market, on 14th St, offers small diameter yet very tall quiche at $7 per quiche. Flavors changes daily. We shared. One quarter of this seems small but is rich, rich, rich, rich. Gorgeous to look at and exquisite to eat. These calories are worth it. Highly recommended.

Tell us about some flavors. Is this place related to the wine bar of the same name?

I think it is related. There is no list of flavors, just that they make different versions from day to day. The one I had was eggplant, fontina, and some form of pork - seemed like some bits of lardon. Fabulous. On another day it could be something else. It's a meal for two or a snack for four.

Have you tried anything else there?

Someone was telling me about their duck confit (at least I think it was Cork Market).

Their ice cream sandwiches in summertime are great. Have also enjoyed their scones and brownies.

Ice cream sandwiches. Now that sounds like something worthwhile to suffer through an August summer day in the Beltway.

The banh mi is outrageous. Only available on Saturdays, and even then I am told they run out quickly.

Banh mi and ice cream sandwiches I can get up for.

            Quiche? Not so much.

Good to know about the banh mi, esp. now that Sundevich has stopped making the Saigon.
