Prague Capitol in Georgetown - Report
A quick lunch at this chic new spot in Georgetown: upscale designer cocktails meet Czech and Slovak cuisine.
We didn't have much time and we went for two simple dishes:
SMOKED TROUT SALAD
Dill-Infused Crème Fraîche, Red Bliss Potatoes
Choice of Pork, Chicken, or Veal; Pickles, Tomatoes, Mixed Greens, Mustard Aïoli, Ciabatta Roll
The food here is carefully prepared and artfully presented. But neither means the food is better than good. The smoked trout salad was a tall square of potato salad with a few strips of smoked trout propped all around. I adore smoked fish, and this was ok. It is 'divorced' from the potato salad, which is maybe a good thing, but I was hoping for something more integral.
The schnitzel sandwich came on toast. Toast! My ciabatta did not show up. The sandwich tasted mostly of mustard and pickle. Also, it was served with a bowl of fries. Made from fresh potatoes, the fries were a typically flabby example.
The dinner menu is more extensive, so maybe it's worth taking a look at those options sometime. There may be some reason to go back yet.
