Badass Apple Pie

rudeboy Dec 28, 2013 12:05 PM

So, I was all set to make a scratch pie when I saw some prepared ones at Central Market. This was on Christmas Eve, so they were marked down to $14.99 from $20. The box said that it had 4.5 lbs of apples in it - the pie was heavy and it had a top-crust. Figuring that I could not do a better pie than this, I bought it and saved myself a lot of work (not that I don't enjoy that type of work). It was really good - not too watery and the crust had a nice salty-ness to it. They may be marked down even more now that Christmas is gone......they were in a cooler in the cheese section at the Lamar location.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check out the north Central Market today to see what they have.

I've been dreaming about apple pie ever since having a divine intervention over Thanksgiving from a little bakery in North Port, Long Island called Copenhagen. Best ever.

Hopefully CM still has it and maybe it will approximate your Long Island experience!

They did have them and they were $14.99, as advertised. I'll be mowing through tomorrow before the resolutions kick in. Did you pop yours in the oven first or just go at it cold?

I put it in at 400 for 45 minutes. To melt the vanilla bean....
