Love Strip House, looking for something new. Suggestions?

Hi All,

My bf and I love the Strip House for steak. My brother and his wife are coming into town next weekend, and we'd like to do steak one night. Since we just went to the Strip House a couple weeks ago, we're thinking of trying someplace new... based on my research I'm thinking either Wolfgang's or BLT... possibly Sparks. Any suggestions? We've also been to Keen's recently, and much preferred Strip House, which is why we keep going back!

Thanks,

Liza

From all those names I prefer BLT prime. American cut received some good words lately but I haven't been there yet.

    1. Try American Cut in TriBeCa. Food is great (especially the pastrami spice coated ribeye, the potato latkes and the Cracker Jack sundae). Service was excellent too

      1. Wolfgang's in Times Square is great space, especially for people visiting, not to mention the food is on par with most other high end steak houses in NYC.

I like Wolfgang's and much prefer the Park Avenue space with its Guastavino tile work. It's a more NYC feel vs the one in the Times building which feels like a suburban chain restaurant. And it's in a crappy area across from Pt Authority.

        2. I'm also a fan of Strip House, and I wouldn't go back to Keen's, so given your list, I'd say BLT, simply because the sides are given importance, and the closest in approach. That said, I don't think you're going to be happy with any of these choices.... they're either different in style or flat out not as good. I wasn't really blown away with BLT and wished I had just gone to Strip House. I'm sure there are other steaks that give a good char vs. the wetter sheen of a Luger/Keens', because I think that's a key difference, but I don't of where. I'd be curious to know where else to get that char. I usually just go back to Strip House, and try a different cut, or side, for a new experience.

Exactly why I pass on Lugers ... they finish it with butter.

          2. Based on your criteria, go to Wolfgang's.
