Chez Nous Austin

This place really disappoints. I really want to like it because downtown Austin needs a bistro, but Chez Nous doesn't cut it. Two especially disappointing dishes in recent tries were the salad lyonnaise, where they substitute red bell pepper strips for the lardon. It just doesn't make it. The other disappointment was an order for a steak au poivre where they were "out" of au poivre sauce. I always thought that au poivre was a pan sauce. How could you run out of something made to order?

In general, the prices are pretty high for the portions and quality served. Even the bread served is substandard. Man, I wish there was a good bistro in Austin.

  1. I used to love Chez Nous, but it does seem like it just isn't the same as it used to be. And yes, Au Poivre can, and should be made to order, as it only consists of primary ingredients.
