Hi - I'm looking for nitrate-free deli meats. I live in Winnipeg and am willing to drive anywhere though I do live in the north part of town. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

So called "nitrate free" deli meats still have nitrates, just natural ones like from celery salt. There is significant controversy about whether cooking meats with added natural nitrates if really any safer than with factory produced sodium nitrate.

I have not found truly nitrate free deli meats, even in the best natural food stores.

There are actually a very few nitrite free deli meats available in Canada. If you can find a local source, McLean meats are nitrite free (and celery-extract free). I can get them in Calgary.
