Hot plate help?

  • 5

Can anyone recommend a good hot plate that will do more than just warm food? I want to be able to make espresso in a moka at work, but it seems like most models aren't potent enough to get water boiling in a relatively short amount of time.

    1. Remember the pots you use (or moka) must be magnetic to work on induction. Solid aluminum does not work on induction.

I got this induction cooktop(single) and used it a lot while my stove was awaiting repair (about 3 weeks).

Wow. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, my moka is aluminum so it would not have worked. I was just going to go out to look for that induction cooktop this afternoon. Now I see that Target also sells a coil cooktop. That might be the solution.

Oops, I DO apologize. I'm so in that mindset.
