                      1. SHANKS
(fond memories of seeing a 400lb dude sitting on two stools at Smith and Wollensky's in Vegas hossing down an osso bucu the size tree stump with various knives, forks and long spoons for marrow)....man that looked great.

kibbeh -- wtf? a great scrabble word.

ribs-had the rib tips from bludsos on la brea -- they were legit. made horsetrader look look total horseshit.

fried foods -- not timely for ny resolution

kebobs -- i liked shamshiri but im sick of persian food after one visit...maybe next year.

Some Kibbehs are fried... but usually served with a nice fresh salad... Shanks however are hardly slimming...

                          --Dommy!

                                  1. With about 7.5 hours left to vote (and in the "old" year) the tally is basically a two-food race:

                                    Shanks - 7

                                    Fried Foods - 6

So unless folks want to eat and explore the shin of creatures tall, short, fat, skinny and ugly (or otherwise), make sure to vote -- and vote often but only once.

                                          1. So with an apparent tie do we have January DOTM being fried shanks?! Shanks with a fried side? Split the month?

Maybe you can find fried shanks like these two photos I linked up here . . . Chinese New Year's fare.

Monterey Palace in monterey park serves that (or something similar), called "crispy salted pigs foot, macau style" behind the dimsum menu for lunch
