Going to be in Cabo 2 weeks in January. I love to prepare fresh fish. Any advice as to where to buy the best fish? Markets, docks, etc.....

Thank you for your input.

  1. I posted this on a Cabo Forum. I'll be down in a few weeks..

The charter boats come in next to the Mercado across the street from the road to Solmar/Playa Grande. This is also the beginning of the bus route so you will see lots of buses. The ramp is to the right of the food trucks and market; looking at the marina.

They start coming in about 1-2 pm.

A little Spanish is helpful but not necessary. Point and pay..ok to bargain.

They'll give you ice but if you're travelling any distance, bring a cooler or ice packs.

In CSL there is a fish market I just learned about. It's called Cabo Mar. They are a few blocks inland from the Marina, behind Squid Roe and the downtown market, Arrumbera??

The charter boats come in at about 2 ish, on. It's at the bottom of the Solmar/Playa Grande road. There is a mercado and the fish are unloaded at aa ramp that you'll see on your right, looking at the marina.

This is not a formal market but a little more hectic. What they catch is what's for sale. Point and pay..ok to haggle. You usually can't buy it by the lb/kilo unless it's a large fish lika marlin. The usual offerings are sierra mackeral, mahi mahi, yellowtail, small tuna. If you don't like the fish, wait a few mins and another boat will come in soon. I bring a small cooler but they will give you ice. A little Spanish is helpful but not necessary
