Crusty top pound cake

I baked numerous 7-up pound cakes this week all have a crusty top.Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? The cake is delicious once you cut through the top. Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas! Nannie

    A crusty top is the best part! Maybe place it lower in the oven?

      Um, nothing? I like a crusty top. Besides, aren't the tops softening up a day or so later after being in a cake carrier or wrapped up?

        Crusty tops are common in some pound cakes. It has to do with sugar and fat.

            If they're too crusty for your liking, just wrap them in plastic and they'll soften right up.
