Chinatown Seafood Markets

I' ve long bought lobsters at pretty good prices in CTown but tended to avoid the finfish. Just rarely found the quality to be there.

Lately I've been picking up some fish at Jia Ho, the old CMart on Washington, Happy Family and the store underneath Winsor Cafe.

Bought several mackeral, lobsters, sea clams, squid and more. These places have all upped their game. With fish, stick to whole fish, bright clear eyes, red gills.

Where else can you have the experience of a live eel slither over your feet while you're shopping?..:)

Happy holidays!

Jia Ho has been my latest. They also had some type of bream that looked fresh. Happy Family has also had some good quality. HF is a little easier to shop because there is less of a language barrier. They were very proud to let me know that the shrimp from Key West were much better tha the Asian farm raised. occassional live sea urchin in shell from Maine too.

I don't mind them in the tank

I was a little taken aback when the 1 literally slithered over my foot. The shopkeeper didn't skip a beat and just netted him up and threw him back in the bucket..:). Part of the fun of shopping in CTown. Imagine a live fish flopping on the floor of a WF and flapping between customer's feet.
