The Monk's Hearth, Yonge and Hillsdale

I've been to this place a couple of times now, and think it's an appropriate time to say a few positive things. The Monk's Table is owned by the same team, and a similar menu and selection of good food and waythehell above average pub food is available. The ghosts of Toronto the bad have haunted it in recent weeks, with some shady bylaw crap and logistical challenges cutting into opening days the last month or so.

A pub that serves international and interesting drafts is a rarity in the city. One that does that and also serves credible food that is well-prepared is even more rare. A place where you can drink interesting beers and decent wine in the Yonge and Eglinton area in a nice set of rooms with good service is almost unheard of. But this is it. Definitely worth checking out and enjoying.

  1. atmosphere is strange.
them going upstairs to get half of the draught available is strange.
