Ribs in El Paso

Jeremy George Dec 6, 2005 01:32 PM

I'll be in El Paso early in '06 for a little while. I've never had the pleasure of eating real Texas ribs. There has to be someplace terrific in the vicinity. Any suggestions?

Try Smokeys on lee trevinos, Fantastic beef ribs, outstanding brisket burritos. Best bbq sauce I have ever eaten. I envy you
    Chow down!

The only place I have gone for ribs is the State Line, 1222 Sunland Park Dr. I have been told on good authority that there is no place in town that is better (although I'm not a big rib eater, so I haven't checked the other places out).

If you want a traditional steak I would really encourage you to go to Cattleman's Steakhouse a few miles east of El Paso at the Fabens exit. They raise their own cattle, and to me this puts it ahead of the places that serve "feedlot beef."

I second both of these reccomendations. I lived in El Paso in the early 90's and tried to get to State line and Cattlemans at least once a month. I still dream about the baby back ribs at Stateline, and it's really worth the drive to experience Cattlemans. Enjoy!
