Chinese Food - Pinellas County

I am a new snowbird in Dunedin who lived in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and DC, all of which had Chinatowns and am desperate for Chinese food. Based on my search so far in this area, people don't seem to say anything good about Chinese food in this county. Are there any hidden gems that are out there? How about Vietnamese food? Thanks for your help.

  1. I would recommend ABC Chinese Seafood restaurant on 54th Ave N. in St. Pete. I consider them to be in the top three in the Tampa Bay area.

    1. As far as Vietnamese I would suggest the following places: Pho Kien Giang (8730 49th St N, Pinellas Park) for Pho; Ben Thanh (4200 62nd Ave N # C, Pinellas Park) for dishes such as banh xeo, banh hoi, beef fondue, etc; Pho Quyen (4505 Park Blvd N #10, Pinellas Park) for the best springrolls in the area plus dishes such as nem nuong, beef with lemongrass and some decent broken rice dishes; Thang Long (4648 Park Blvd N, Pinellas Park) has some pretty good roast duck noodle soup.

Oh yeah.....Pho Quyen opened a location north on US 19 called Pho Queen at 29000 US 19 N, Clearwater

      1. Yummy house over in Tampa Amarit in palm harbor for Thai

        1. If you head south on CR1 Keene/Starkey, turn right on Park Blvd (you are now in Seminole) Zom Hee Chinese Restaurant in on the right hand side, in a small strip mall.
This is not your typical Chinese all you can eat buffet. This is a old fashioned, order off the menu sort of establishment. I'm originally from Central Mass. and this is the type of great food that we're used to. They specialize in Szechuan, Hunan, and Cantonese style food. Their rice is not yellow, it's dark brown and flavorful. Check it out, hope you like it.

Tried Zom Hee Dec.2014. IT IS HORRIBLE! Even offer "chop suey" on menu which does NOT exist in true Chinese cooking. Tasted so bad, my dog even turned up her nose and would not eat it.

          2. I will add a few to the above, plus a suggestion:

Ha Long Bay (Chinese and dim sum plus Vietnamese)
            Jade Bistro
            Thang Long

Thanks for reporting back on your findings...
