Lacey/Olympia xiao long bao?

Bada Bing Dec 22, 2013 07:32 AM

Do any Chinese places in Lacey/Olympia do xiao long bao, those soup-dumplings?

Every time I'm in the area I shy away from even searching for decent Chinese. Maybe there is some, but I just got the vibe Chinese (and Shangainese XLB) is not something to be found in any decent form in Greater Olympia. Here's a listing:

All the best finding some, and we'd love to hear back about what you find.

Thanks for the list! I'll investigate a bit, but I know better than to get my hopes up. I've been spoiled by Joe''s Shanghai in NYC.

But really, with xlb, specifically, it's often a problem finding them at all, much less excellent ones.

Exactly. And if there isn't any (or you can't find 'em) in Oly, then your only real chances are in Seattle and Portland. You *may* want to drive up to Seattle to hit up Din Tai Fung in Bellevue:

And even if you do, DTF may or may not impress, all depending on what you're used to back home. I dunno anything about Joe's Shanghai in NYC, but out of curiosity I just looked them up on Urbanspoon and the pics of their XLBs look damned good (and I'm in Vancouver, totally spoiled by our abundance of authentic Shanghai restos).

But like I said, IF you do find any XLB even worth mentioning in Oly, please report back so others will benefit :-

        Good luck BB !
