Has anyone made Sriracha Spiced Nuts? Egg Whites or Oil?
I want to make some Sriracha flavored mixed nuts in the oven for munching on with the family on Christmas Day. I've come across a several different recipes, all with different methods - but I've never made nuts this way and I'm not sure which to follow. Some call for egg whites others call for oil or butter as the coating. I think I'd prefer the egg white, but wanted to know the difference. Also, any suggestions on what to add other than Sriracha - I've seen a recipe on line that includes Rosemary but I'm not wild about that flavor in this case.
I've done both, (though not with Sriracha), and I prefer egg whites for the obvious reasons.
Additional flavors - ginger, citrus zest, granulated garlic, lemongrass, curry powder, turbinado sugar, and of course - more salt.
I have some raw cashews and I'm planning to do an egg white base with the truffle salt I bought at TJ's.
