DiscoverLA: Best AYCE

Thoughts? I thought it was pretty fair, and I had no idea Hummus Bar & Grill had an AYCE banchan thing going on

Burbank/NoHo needs a Souplantation so bad.

        1. re: ns1

Souplantion Atwater Village 2921 Los Feliz Blvd.

          1. re: wienermobile

            atwater =/= burbank/NoHo

Although it's much closer than it used to be that's for sure.

            1. re: ns1

Sorry Northridge, Brentwood, Beverly Center or Atwater is closest.

            1. re: linus

because that's where I live and I'm too lazy to drive.

              1. re: ns1

you'd go out of your way to a souplantation? just asking.

                1. re: linus

nope, which is why i haven't been to the atwater location yet.

            2. re: ipsedixit

I believe there's one on Ventura in WH between canoga and desoto

            3. and A-Frame's $14 bottomless bowl of fried chicken legs and thighs

now that "hangover" closed in ktown, are there any other AYCD places apart from the bottomless hite at a-frame? i like the bottomless trend.

                1. re: jessejames

Ahem...Time to set down that bottomless beer perhaps? ;-D>

                  1. re: Servorg

well, set it down to be refilled ideally!

                    1. re: jessejames

It was the "letter order" of your abbreviation that prompted my post...

                      1. re: Servorg

well, you may be on to something....hiccup

                  2. re: jessejames

                    "i like the bottomless trend.""

                    google "cyrus, miley"

                      1. re: linus

"Bottomless"??? She's got a great bottom.

                  3. hummus bar and grill is pretty much the same kind of place as itzik hagadol down the street.
the array of salads isn't exactly banchan, but you can order it separately, but each person has to pay.

                    fyi, wsg prefers itzik hagadol.

i haven't had much luck asking this question before, but i'll try again:

why do you prefer itzik hagadol?

i have trouble picking between them myself. maybe i need to revisit itzik hagadol, because the last few times i've gone to hummus bar.
but from memory, i don't sense a great deal of difference between the two.

                        1. re: linus

Itzik serves a wider selection of equally high quality mezze.

                          Mr Taster

                            1. re: westsidegal

well, again, both restaurants serve a similar, tasty and wide variety of salads.

again, i guess it's time to give itzik hagadol a turn next time i'm in the area, but at the time of this post, i find both places just about equally good.

                                1. re: Mr Taster

                                  thanks. yelp pics look amazing.

                                  4.6% cashback through fatwallet too.

                        2. re: linus

If you order the 20 AYCE Salad Option (which includes falafel and Israeli salad), it's $18 pp. If you order an entree, then the pricing is $8-9 pp. It's more like mezzes than ban chan.

                        3. The AYCE in Pacific Palms Azusa is pretty good, too.
