Roast Goose in Los Angeles

dianeworth Dec 17, 2013 08:25 AM

Are there any restaurants in LA serving roast goose during the holidays?

The LA Times limits the number of viewings per month. Then it will block me unless I sign up for a subscription which I refuse to do. Thanks for trying.

The number of views limit applies only to hotlinks so you can get around it by using a search engine to look for the article.

So go to google and search "goose tacos" site:latimes

and that article will be the first thing that appears and you will be able to view it even as a non-subscriber.

The second link I pasted in was through the Google news aggregator site - which I thought would work for Baron (maybe he didn't actually try it?).

I got thru with my iPad. I'm a fan of Rockenwagner.
Thanks. Not a fan of the LA Times.

I just wondered if the second link worked for you and wasn't sure if you actually tried it or not?

I tried the second link (with my PC) and got blocked there as well. Got "goosed!" The LA Times has been my home page for as long as I can remember. I can still check the weather for free, but am limited to 10 views per month. Same with the NY Times.
                    Thanks for the help.

                    Ditto here, Baron.

If you clear your cookies, you can continue reading things on the Times site. They simply install a cookie to keep track of the # of articles you read. Remove the cookie. Problem solved.

This is probably why I never have a problem with my LA Times access...cookies never last long at my house.

For the past two years, we had the Christmas roasted beef/prime rib dinner at Tam O'Shanter. It is very popular and very festive.
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas they have a group of roaming carolers dressed in Dickens' era costumes that will sing your choice of Christmas songs at your dinner table. For the price, it cannot be beat.
Last year, I made the mistake of ordering the roasted goose. It was dry, and compared to their roasted beef, un-edible. One of my guest also make the mistake of ordering a lobster tail to pair with her roast beef. Not pretty.
Just stick with the prime rib/roast beef. This dish is what they can do well.

              Goose at ARC Costa Mesa.

Served with cabbage, roasted peaches with almonds, and stuffing.

Presentation reminds me of what we saw in Iceland.

Josie will have it, at least Christmas Eve.

Just had some yesterday at 3 Square. Confit-style. Delicious. But I don't think it's on the regular menu. Might be a special thought.
