Marvel Coffee. Co (Donlands TTC)

Pleased to see signs up for Marvel Coffee Co. a few steps north of Danforth on Donlands right beside Donlands TTC. Don't know why, but it intrigues me that they'd open so close to the subway and not on Danforth. Construction photo on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/marvelcoffee...

  1. Everyone getting on or off the subway will be either passing or seeing the store. That means more traffic than if they were on Danforth in the vicinity of Donlands station. Plus they can only move into what happens to be available when they are looking. Being right beside the subway makes the most sense to me.

    1. a year ago, i thought that Donlands, from Danforth to O'Connor, would be the next city hotspot. I was kind of wrong.
i still think the Danforth between Donlands and Greenwood will be smoking hot in the coming years. good to see this coffee shop going up.
wonder if/how it will affect the Only.

atomeyes, how do you envision the change on that part of the Danforth? I don't really see the large institutionalized buildings anchoring (and I am consciously using that word) the stretch moving out or being transformed. It would be great cuz I hate walking it, preferring to go one block north.

Yeah... I'd love to see it, but there isn't even a lot of retail space in that stretch. The north side just east of Donlands *should* have potential as a halal strip, but it never seems to take off. The spaces on the south side, both sides of Donlands, need a lot of updating and don't have good bones to start with.
Marvel is great, nice eager people, great iced coffee and they have a small oven and are doing at least some of the baking there.

      2. Marvel Coffee Company has opened on Donlands north of Danforth. I enjoyed a cappuccino and Churchill's pecan bar today. There are 4 seats inside, and 4 seats outside, with 2 small tables.

Currently opens at 8 am, as far as I understand. They'll be open for Canada Day tomorrow.

Looks beautiful, can't wait to try it!
I do think opening at 8:00 a.m for a coffee join seems kind of late no? Curious to see if they will open earlier.

          1. re: Baelsette

If I understood correctly, once Marvel Coffee Company has had its official grand opening, the owners plan to be open at 6:30 am on weekdays, and close at 7 pm on weekdays. I would think Marvel will open later on weekends.

I'm sure the regular hours will be posted once Marvel is in full swing.

        2. Went yesterday. Nice, but unimpressive.

I'll stick to my Americano at the Only, thanks.

          1. Marvel now has Maid's Cottage buttertarts available. Hopefully there will be enough demand that the buttertarts will become part of the regular pastry offering at Marvel.

I stopped in today for a butter tart and iced herbal tea (which they serve unsweetened, a plus for me). The maid's cottage butter tarts are as good as everyone says. They actually had a pretty extensive treat selection, and quite a few items that look different from the standard coffee shop offerings around town. Dangerous knowledge for me!
