Out to eat on Christmas Eve-Help

Plans have changed and now there are 5 of us to dine on Christmas Eve. Got a list from Eaterpdx. Among the places that are ope are Ned Ludd and Clark and Lewis. We ate at C&L about 8 years ago, I believe. I liked it then but…. now?

Any other suggestions for Christmas Eve would be appreciated!

  1. Any ethnic restaurant that doesn't celebrate Christmas. Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian etc.

OK but would rather do something a bit nicer!

    2. zinfanatic

I recommended non- Christmas celebrating ethnic because whenI I was a cook and chef, nobody wanted to be working in a restaurant Christmas Eve.Everybody wanted to be home with their families. you're not going to get the restaurants best efforts from either the front or back of the house. If you do go try to dine as early as possible and don't linger. Put yourself in their places. Who wants to work that night?

Totally agree! I was a pastry chef at an SF restaurant!

Thanks, I kept looking everyday and then began to give up. Also handy to know about Christmas Day.

            1. Ned Ludd is our favourite restaurant in Portland so far. I think you'd be happy there, with zackly's caveats.

              1. I have no idea if it is open Xmas Eve, but if it is, I would recommend Noisette.
