Soul Food Spot in Downtown Durham

burgeoningfoodie Dec 12, 2013 01:37 PM

If you are like me, you might have been thinking that downtown Durham should already have a soul food spot or maybe it does and I just don't hear much about it. Anyways, was catching up on my Carpe Durham reading and saw a post about 118 Got Soul.

Has anyone been? Thoughts? Anyone curious?

After dinner a few weeks ago we walked by 118 on our way to the DPAC. We were invited in by the very friendly owner and given a quick tour. As noted in the Carpe Durham review, they have turkey ribs. We need to go for lunch one day and try them out.

While not downtown, I can recommend the Chicken Hut on Fayetteville Street. I have been there several times but always on a Tuesday. I want to go there on a Wednesday because that is fried chicken liver day!
