Last Chance Kitchen 12/11 spoilers

Travis vs. Louis.
The challenge is based on Travis saying he was the expert on Vietnamese cooking. At this point I already knew Louis had won. Louis could make a hamburger and win.
Lots and lots of gratuitous leg shots of Janine in her short skirt and pretty much being the talking head of comments for this round. Including a huffy "Why didn't I get those ingredients!" Sara gets a few in, mostly eye rolls. The rest of the gallery is largely ignored.
They get vietnamese proteins, and go off in a Toyota Corolla with GPS and touch screen to go to a market to buy more crap. Lots of product placement.
Travis goes bitter melon soup. Louis goes some tripe thing.
Tom likes both.
Likes Louis's better. Pretty much a foregone conclusion here, but at least Travis put up a good fight.

And Travis once again mentioned that he has a boyfriend.

I actually felt kind of bad for Travis. It did seem Tom was almost mocking his Vietnamese expertise. (Although, admittedly, I have mocked Travis as well.)

Both dishes look good, though. Poorly cooked tripe (like trying to eat rubber bands) or butter melon (worse than medicine when you were a kid) are pretty daunting.
I'm sorry that Travis lost, but happy Louis won. I know that doesn't make much sense, but so it goes. I'd gladly eat food from either of them.

It makes perfect sense to me. I kind of felt bad for Travis, but I love Louis' smile and calm demeanor, so I was happy he won.

Why anyone would choose to do bitter melon soup, which I think of as neighborhood Chinese food, is beyond me! There are so many other great Asian dishes he could have made, including superb Vietnamese. I don't care for tripe either, but at least that broth looked really good. I really like Travis, but he has made some poor decisions... Louis just might be the last chef standing. If so, that would be fine by me. He's definitely got some chops!

          Seriously, a bow tie?

I am still seeing socks. Was there a bow tie?

Yes, aryan pretty boy. It trumped the socks.

These guys are bored to tears. Jason probably got the idea from an elf. The odds that he brought his own bowtie seem quite slim. Heck, I am guessing the socks came from an elf as well.

As far as the LCK goes, I'm liking Louis even better.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Travis's bloody nose. And it seemed to be from before the competition. After we might have expected.

I did notice that as well.
