Christmas Day dim sum or brunch in SGV. Where to go?

annapurna7 Dec 11, 2013 10:57 AM

My Chinese MIL will be staying with us this Christmas and we want to take her to Christmas Day dim sum or brunch in SGV. I'm looking for a decent place that is not going to be insanely crowded since we are going to have our kids with us. I don't mind waiting for a 1/2 hour or so for a table...I'm just so used to Christmas Day dim sum in Daly City and what a circus that is. I'm looking to avoid that. Hoping for suggestions to places that are somewhat under the radar.

I've never been to Christmas Day dimsum, but you can probably expect the quality of the dimsum to be proportional to the wait. So, Sea Harbor, Lunasia, Elite are probably going to be a wait, along with 5 star, which is not great, but acceptable and cheap. Ocean Star, Empress Harbor, Capital seafood in MPK and Arcadia probably will be better wait times.

Thanks. If we didn't have to drag the kids, then I would go to one of the better restaurants. Acceptable works for me at this time. lol.

King Hua in Alhambra is very good. We rarely have to wait. We even went on Mother's Day this year and only had to wait about 10 minutes.

It's been a family tradition for years to go for dim sum on that day. They're all going to be crowded, it really depends on how early you get out of the house. Seems like 10:30 was the cutoff for us. As long as we got on the list by that time, it would be about 30 mins. Past that, it's a crapshoot.
