Cinquecento Roman Trattoria, Any Reports?
Checked out the menu and this resto in the South End, 500 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118 (617) 338-9500, seems worth trying.
But I have seen nothing about it on this site. Am I missing something?
PS For those ISO whole fish, they do have branzino on the menu, but I don't know how it is prepared.
I corrected my search entry by reducing it to Cinqecento and then collected the hits.
Although reports on food and service have been mixed, with most tending to the plus side, the real problem is the noise. No one claims that this is a relaxed quiet restaurant.
My wife and I were thinking of meeting a friend there to eat and chat. Chatting may be impossible.
Scoring a quiet table on Saturday at 8 also seems impossible.
Please correct me if my impression is mistaken.
It's definitely worth a try, IMHO. I've been quite few times and have enjoyed the food. Haven't noticed the noise (I rarely eat at peak times), but the one problem I have with this place is overly aggressive bussing. They're swooping in to snatch your plate away before you even finish chewing, or taking one diner's empty plate while others are still eating. Maybe those are just my personal pet peeves, but to me it's a pretty big negative. If you do try it (and I think it's worth at least one shot!) be prepared to smack some hands away from your plates.
You mentioned a quiet table at 8 on a Saturday. There aren't many places I can see that happening, that's about as peak time as you can get.
Went there once food was ok very loud do not plan on returning, however to be fair I have friends that have been there many times and enjoy it.
Outstanding brunch is worth checking out. Bucatini carbonara was delicious. As was the basket of freshly baked/fried goods - ricotta fritter, croissants, sugar donuts, gianduja brioche.
