The Great Frank Davis--he of local cookbook and radio show fame--has gone on to Th Erstah Bar in th' sky. 71. Who can forget his radio shows in the window at Mr. B's? He was a cook before they got famous. One of the last links with Leon Soniat.
For those who are interested, Judy Walker has a nice toodle-oo to Frank in nola.com complete with his oven-fried chicken recipe, plus his grillades, and his Mardi Gras Day gumbo. (I'd pound the flour into the meat for the grillades but that's about the only issue I'd have with it. Frank didn't mind that kind of argument.)
Funeral Saturday in Slidell. I hope it rivals Allen G. "Black Cat" Lacombe's.
