Foie Gras

luckyfatima Dec 9, 2013 05:37 PM

Which are some places that serve foie gras? Preferably large pieces. We are coming from Ashburn so hopefully not extremely far away.

Also, does any gourmet store sell lobes of foie gras to make at home?

I'm pretty sure Balducci's has foie gras but it's about the same price as having it at a restaurant, iirc. L'auberge Chez Francois has foie.

Balduccis does sell it, but in "Discs" at an extremely high price. The only lobe I've seen was from a friend in the restaurant business who got it from a wholesaler...

      http://www.dartagnan.com/ has it online...

I've always liked the foie prep at Charlie Palmer's. Rose's Luxury does a foie dessert that could potentially be had for an app. Proof's seared foie is also very good.

Organic Butcher will order you a lobe.
I've seen and bought lobe slices from the Fairfax Wegmans twice before.

Nice large lobe. It's good, too.
