Trouble making Trattoria Monti Reservations in Rome

eviemichael Dec 9, 2013 04:55 AM

Hi all, I'm trying to make reservations for Sunday lunch at Trattoria Monti in January.

When I call, it just rings and rings, and no one answers. No answering machine.

Does anyone know if they have designated hours when they receive phone calls?

have you tried today? they are closed mondays. Try calling towards the beginning of their opening hours, that will be the most likely time they will answer the phone.

They are notoriously difficult to get in touch with. They really only answer the phone when they are in the restaurant and have time to answer. Try calling tomorrow, Tuesday, at noon Rome time, or else 7:00pm.

      Good luck!!!

Thanks guys, I'll try again tomorrow.

Is 1 month in advance a good time to make reservations there?

Any recommendations on what to order?

I just received an email from someone telling me that Monti may be closed for renovations? Or is closing?

Has anyone heard anything about this? I tried to phone but...they haven't picked up.

Actually I called yesterday at noon Rome time as you guys advised and I got through. I was able to make my reservation for 1pm on Sunday January 12th.

Do you have any recommendations on the menu?

Their sformati are really good. They're also known for their tortello al rosso d'uovo, although I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks! For a Sunday lunch would you choose Monti? Or are there better options out there?

It's good for Sunday lunch. They have vincisgrassi, a type of lasagne typical of the Marche -- very rich and meaty, but the portion is not enormous.

Thanks! If the portions are small, we'll just keep ordering more plates. ;-)
