DiningDiva Dec 6, 2013 11:53 PM

This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone know any 24 hr places in La Mesa preferably close to Grossmont Hosp?

Sorry, DD. Only fast food (McDonalds Drive thru on Lake Murray and I think the Carls, Jr on Fletcher Parkway). I hope your mom is OK.

Tito's Tacos at Baltimore and Fletcher is open late on weekends, maybe 24 hours. 'Bertos on Jackson near Fletcher is 24 hour (not sure if 'Bertos becomes drive-thru only). Sun Tacos on Jackson up near La Mesa Blvd may also be 24 hour drive-thru.

If you want a salt bomb go for the El Sancho - shrimp, bacon and white sauce.

Wow! I like their 3-rolled tacos for $2.99. They aren't buried under too much guac and shredded cheese and the portion is just the right size to eat as a snack and not get filled up.

I'll have to try the El Sancho some time

Tito's Tacos???! Are they the same Tito's as up in WLA? They were always super busy, but I am not sure I would go at all out of my way to eat there. That is of course, they are the same Tito.

                Don't think it's the same one - http://www.titostacoshop.com/

And it is very close to Grossmont Hospital, which was what I had requested :-). It is open 24 hours and I wish I had remembered that last Friday night, it would have hit the spot when I needed it.

Yes it does appear that they are different, thankfully. The one in WLA I could only recommend it to a wasted 18yo college student.

DD, caught Cathy's remark about your mom.

Chow related remark - hope she is being served some decent food.

All the best to you, GJ

Thanks. Just came from the hospital and saw her lunch try. Weird combo, but surprisingly edible. Certainly not 5-star dining, but way, way better when I was there for an appendectomy.

Hope all is okay with your mom. My daughter was in there the beginning of November for a week, but only got food the last two days she was there. They've definitely improved the food!

Pho Super Bowl on Jackson and Parkway is open until 10pm during the week. Decent pho and good weather for it.
