New Bouley question! 2:45 lunch?

I don't like to eat late in restaurants if I feel rushed. I know Bouley's lunch ends at 3pm. The only reservation I could get is at 2:45. We will do the lunch 5 course, not the tasting menu. Do you think we will be rushed?

Thanks for everyone's help.

  1. I have a 2:30 lunch reservation in 2 weeks and plan to have the 5 course tasting menu and am 100% confident that I won't be rushed. I'm a big fan of Bouley in large part because of their excellent service. Have a wonderful time.

Do you feel the dinner tasting menu, which is same number of courses but 3x the price, is justified? Some of the dishes are even the same--at least in their names. I'm sure there are many factors, but I have to wonder what, if anything, makes up for the price difference?

Actually the dinner has 6 courses (not the 5 per the lunch tasting menu), and has more of the luxury ingredients (lobster). I have not had the lunch tasting menu so I can't comment as to whether the lunch portion size may be smaller than the dinner or whether there may be less of the amuses/mignardises than at dinner. As you may know, I've dined frequently at Bouley through the years and have always found the dinner tasting menu to be an excellent value.

    2. The 3 p.m. is the last seating, not when the kitchen shuts down.

You'll be fine. Just don't make extravagant dinner reservations.
