Winery and Food recommendations in Mendoza

Hello friends, looking for your top recommendations for the best food and wine pairings in Mendoza! My boyfriend and I will be there for a short stay and are keen on making the most of it. We have heard that Ruca Malen and O.Fournier are both must visits, does anyone prefer Ruca over O Fournier for food? Any recommendations you can provide would be appreciated!

There are new restaurants everyday in Mendoza .... our favorite was Mun @ Casarena (www,chefmun.com). Asian fusion cuisine with exquisite wine pairings...asado (Argentine overcooked meat) is no longer a required visit element. Yea! Mendoza recently made the Top 10 wine destinations in the world by Wine Enthusiast and their list is really good and spot on...give it a read!

      Hi shoreskj,

I went to both Ruca and O.Fournier for Lunch with Wine Pairing. This was back in 2009, both on nice sunny crisp winter days.
Both were really good, as far as atmosphere, Ruca was outside, so much more in touch with nature, and we spend hours chatting with some other people on the next table... we still remember that lunch years later.

O.Fournier was really good as well, but inside, and more "formal" no real chance of "chatting" with other tables, make friends sort of speak.

      Hope this helps,

P.S. my favorite for wine tasting, not lunch is Achaval Ferrer (nice boutique winery with great wines) always a favorite among Wine Magazines such as Wine Enthusiast. they even have a Dolce Malbec they only sell at the winery!
