Bought some today at Le Panier in Pointe-Claire. My Mom always had them at Xmas. Family tradition thing.

I thought they were available at that well known candy store in Verdun. Is the name Stillwell's?

I saw some Stillwells at the candy store in Verdun on Wellington (and first?)

I just read that Stillwells has since moved to Lasalle and they sell Humbugs.

7658 Centrale, corner 5th. Although judging from their Google Juice, they might have closed permanently.

          Call 514-364-9948 and find out.

No they have re-opened after being closed for about 2 months(the original owners closed it for good, with decline in business for years). The husband of Le Panier owner, purchased Stillwells recently, & re-opened it several weeks ago. The original family are back making their Stillwells humbugs.

              Thanks.

And for anyone interested, here's the story from CBC
              http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada/...

Although I want to know how can they have "new flavours", if they haven't changed the recipe?

by keeping the original humbug the same, and adding new flavors too.

When I use to go to Stillwells semi-regularly years ago they had different humbug flavours then(although some of current flavours are new). The story in CBC Montreal doesn't make it clear, that the Stillwells location is not open to the general public(it's only made for the stores they supply).

I just checked their packaging, the correct spelling is 'Stilwells' not Stillwells. Last I heard they were supplying to about a dozen stores.

I should correct myself, it's one member of original family still making it. The family closed their Stillwells business for first time in 2009 due to lack of business, but one member of the family revived it operating it part-time(were supplying to about 5 locations since 1999). This person stays with making Stillwells candy, with the Le Panier person taking over ownership.

I bought it at Deli plus Frank & Fred in 97 Donegani, Pointe-Claire. My Mon really love it.
