Help needed for 2013 Christmas lunch/dinner - restaurants closed.

towkay Dec 4, 2013 12:16 PM

First X'mas experience in NOLA for local atmosphere like a reveillon menu.
Managed to get reservations in R'evolution & Emeril's for Christmas season.
However most restaurants of note like Commander's Palace, Stella, Boucherie, August etc are closed on Christmas day.
Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Broussard's is open for lunch and dinner. (Not a recommendation: I have not been since they reopened.)

There have been some previous threads on this.

The bottom line is that some of the city's good restaurants are in hotels and will therefore be open on holidays.
      SoBou, Luke, Dominica, Borgne,etc.

          Most useful information. Thank you.
Beats having Asians on Christmas day. BTW, we are Asian foodies visiting New Orleans for the Christmas season, and would like to soak as much of the unique local flavor, as humanly possible!
We are thinking of Le Citron Bistro. Good review but rustic ambience.
What is your take on Mila?

Last weekend we hit 4 restaurants. We decided to hit favorites instead of visiting some new places.

MiLa was one of the favorites.

We tried calling directly to Mila, but they will not be opened for either Christmas day or Christmas eve. Otherwise we would have gone there.
              Thanks anyways.

          Tom Fitzmorris' 2013 list:

Could have some inaccuracies, as they have MILA listed as open Christmas Day.

Sorry but Mila is definitely not opened for Christmas Day . Called directly to Mila to inquire TWICE.
            What a bummer !
            Thanks anyways.

We had a great lunch at Domenica last year on Christmas Day. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was good and the restaurant was very busy.

I actually wish we would have gone back there for dinner. We went to Cafe Adelaide and did not enjoy it at all.
