  1. Yes!! Looks like all the $$$ for fine wines nowadays are being spend in the Orient!!
Casing point, a few years ago, whilst dining in a number of private clubs in Hong Kong, I cannot help but noticed almost every one/table was drinking Lynch-Bages. This year, during the same annual Hong Kong visit, i was amazed to find at least four tables in the same establishments were drinking 'Ausone'!! The superb 1989 at that!! Sign of the times?!!
BTW, dinner gatherings involving a list of spectacular wines like the following, attended by fellow chowhounder 'Peech' are rare but not uncommon!!
"1980 Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises, 1996 Billecart-Salmon Le Clos St-Hilaire, 1998 Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, 1992 Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, 2000 Leflaive Montrachet, 2007 Hospices de Beaune Mazis-Chambertin Cuvée Madeleine de Collignn elevé par Pierre Andre, 2007 Hospices de Beaune Mazis-Chambertin Cuvée Madeleine de Collignn elevé par Faiveley, 1980 Bouchard La Romanée, 1980 Leroy Musigny, 1980 Vogüé Musigny, 1989 Lafleur, 1989 Le Pin, 1980 Yquem, 1982 Karuizawa Single Cask Whisky"
And yes!!! All these were consumed on the same night!!
