Pecan pie safe at room temp?

Never sure. Fridge is crammed packed, but I got it in there.

  1. Oh dear god yes!!! There's soooo much sugar in one of those puppies there's no way anything could live on it.

Seriously, sugar is a very effective preservative. That's why we have things like candied fruit and fruitcakes with shelf lives of forever (give or take a decade or two). ;>

    1. Its fine for almost 48 hours (unless we eat it faster!! ;)
      No problem, take it out.

        From what?

        Spoilage? Or straying mouths?

The former, for sure. The latter, who knows ...

lol. Yes, it is quite tempting. Thanks, everyone!

        2. Assuming normal kitchen conditions it should be fine for a few days. If it lasts longer than that there is a problem with the pie.

But seriously, I know it is a highly modified custard pie, but I've left them out for as long as 4 days and had no problems at all.

And it tastes better at room temp, maybe a little whipped cream.

          2. I wouldn't leave a pumpkin pie out because the custard is way better cold (yes i know you buy them unrefrigerated...) but a pecan pie should be just fine. There's too much sugar in that baby for anything to grow!
